What is the status of a Ski Instructor at Club Med?

At Club Med, a Ski Instructor can either be an external provider or a G.O (Gentil Organisateur). In the case of French resorts, the Ski Instructor is often an external provider affiliated with a ski school, such as the ESF (École du Ski Français). In that case, they are not employed by Club Med but work in partnership to provide lessons.

Ski Instructors can also be G.O employees with seasonal contracts, generally lasting from 3 to 5 months per year, depending on snow conditions. Unlike external providers, G.O Ski Instructors are housed and fed for a fixed fee directly at the resort where they teach, just like other G.O staff members. In Asia, Club Med hires Ski Instructors whose certifications may vary, but who enjoy the same benefits. All of them work in exceptional ski resorts.

What qualifications are required to be a Ski Instructor?

To teach skiing in France, a Ski Instructor must hold a State Diploma in Alpine Skiing (DES)

Abroad, G.O Ski Instructors must have an international certification, such as one from the ISIA (International Ski Instructor Association), the CSIA, or other local organizations. These organizations have their own requirements for becoming a Ski Instructor.

What level is required to become a Ski Instructor?

At Club Med, excellence is a priority. Therefore, to become a Ski Instructor at Club Med, a high technical skill level and masterful knowledge of skiing are required. This level is often assessed through specific tests. These tests verify that the candidate possesses the technical abilities necessary to provide high-quality teaching and ensure guests' safety on the slopes.

Ski Instructors participate in practical and instructional training courses under supervision to refine their technical skills. Ongoing training and regular refresher courses are mandatory to ensure instructors maintain their qualifications and stay proficient with evolving techniques.
