Main Qualifications to Become a Sailing Instructor

To work as a Sailing Instructor in France and Europe, you need to hold a BPJEPS (Brevet Professionnel de la Jeunesse, de l’Éducation Populaire et du Sport) with a specialization in sailing. This qualification allows instructors to independently lead and supervise water sports activities safely.

The CQP Voile (Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle) is an entry-level qualification for those looking to start a career in sailing instruction. These training programs cover teaching methods, sailing techniques, and water safety. A coastal boating license is also often required. The French Sailing Federation (FFVoile) also offers recognized certifications.
