At Club Med, the experience of our holidaymakers and our teams is imbued with this unique glossary, a reflection of our history and our DNA. To familiarise you with this world, we have therefore prepared a valuable ‘Club Med’ glossary of the key terms to remember.

But let's take a closer look at what these terms actually mean...

Club Med glossary: our G.M or ‘Gentils Membres’

In 1950, at the heart of the very first Club Med Resort located in the Balearic Islands, the term emerged: ‘G.M,’ short for ‘Gentil Membre.’ This expression was born from the imagination of the teams at the time. The name ‘Gentle Member’ was then the name given to the resort's guests. It followed on from the fact that the first holidaymakers called the Club Med organisers ‘G.O’. In a play of good-natured reciprocity, these pioneering holidaymakers were given a name that has since been echoed throughout the Club Med universe: ‘Gentil Membre’ or ‘G.M’. In the end, the G.M. is simply the Resort's customer.

Our G.Os: ambassadors of the Club Med DNA

The primary objective of a G.O (or Gentil Organiser) is to be the ambassador of the Club Med spirit. His or her main task is to convey Club Med's fundamental values, while bringing the magic of the Resort's highlights to life. His or her aim: to offer our G.M.s a truly unforgettable holiday experience. The opportunities and career development of a G.O are based on the development of specific skills, acquired through a training programme focused on individual potential. And the richness of this professional experience also comes from daily interaction with a diverse customer base, in a constantly changing multicultural environment.

The Village Manager or the master builder of the Resort

At each of our 70 Resorts around the world, a manager operates and directs both the establishment and the teams that make it up. In the Club Med Jobs glossary, this person is known as the ‘Village Manager’.
But the Village Manager is much more than a manager! They embody the soul and essence of each Club Med destination. A true maestro of the experience, he or she is the guarantor of the magic that works in our Resorts, ensuring that each stay is a memorable one. He or she creates an environment where friendliness, discovery and the well-being of G.M.s are the watchwords. Together with the Resort teams, he is committed to passing on Club Med values while creating rich experiences and memories for life...
