Meet Pauline, Barmaid and Felicia, Restaurant Gourmet Lounge Hostess

I'm Pauline, i'm 26 years old, I've been at Club Med since June 2021 and i work as a Barmaid.
I'm Felicia, I work at the Gourmet Lounge I've been at Club Med for three years. I am a Hostess and I am 23 years old.

What are your daily missions?

Pauline

"I do the setups in the morning, I prepare the fruits, the cocktails, the coffee service, and also in the evening i make cocktails, i do the table service occasionally, and take care of the bar closing."

      

Felicia

"My daily job is to welcome G.M.'s (customers) I take dinner reservations, I give all information about the Gourmet Lounge restaurant."

      

What is your background?

Pauline

"My background is a bit atypical because before I worked in the National Education and I was tired of the daily routine. I found an ad on Facebook to apply for a job at Club Med. I took my chance and I applied, I passed a video interview and three weeks later, I had left for the Club Med. I left everything to work at Club Med, for almost a year now."

       

Felicia

"My experience: I had studied in the hospitality field, and after studying I applied on the internet, I was looking for a job in the hospitality and restaurant industry. I started as a as a waitress because I didn't speak the language at all. I have been working at Club Med for three years. I became a Hostess G.O, and I'm very glad that I've learned the language, especially French, and to be able to work at Club Med."

     

What are the essential qualities to work at Club Med?

Pauline

"Knowing how to adapt to all situations to have an open mind to be able to communicate with its colleagues, we do not all speak the same language, we don't all have the same culture. So it's important to be open-minded when working at Club Med, the kindness to be able to communicate with our G.Ms who are very much in need of being in contact with us. For me this is the most important thing. And then step by step the technical gestures, we adapt with the jobs."

       

Felicia

"Kindness is in the profession, availability, and being open to listen all the time and there for our guests needs."

    

What did you learn at Club Med?

Pauline

"I learned to adapt to different cultures, different nationalities. To adapt myself with a different way of working, and i'm also taking Italian lessons because we are in Cefalù (Italy) so I will learn Italian and I hope that at the end of the season I will be able to speak Italian as Felicia now knows how to speak French."

      

Felicia

"I also learnt to adapt because it was the first experience outside my country. Especially because I didn't know the language. Everyone helped me a lot, all the time to learn, to listen to me."

     

What is your best memory?

Pauline

"My best memory is the first time I went on stage to perform I had never done that, I had never done a dance, I wasn't a dancer at all and with the choreographer we worked a lot, we learned a lot of choreography and honestly the first time I went on stage, that everyone stood up to applaud me I thought "Wow", that was my best memory among many others but this one was still the best."

       

Felicia

"The people I knew, are the people I worked with. Now I am in touch with them all the time. I always felt at home, with my colleagues, it was like a family. These best memories are mostly of my co-workers, my team and my workplace."

     

What do you do during your days off?

Pauline

"We do a lot of things, all the activities that there are outside the resorts. When it's in the mountains, I go skiing, I go to Folie Douce, Now that I'm working by the sea, i go to the beach, i go visiting around... We really have a lot of things to do when we are with our colleagues, we go to eat at the restaurant to enjoy all together outside of work and this is very important to, the day off, to get out of the Club a little bit even if you can take advantage of all the amenities, to get out of the Club and enjoy together outside our workplace."

       

Felicia

"I take advantage of itto visit a lot. It is also because Club Med gives us the opportunity to travel. As a result, whether it is in the mountains or by the sea, we have all the time the opportunity to visit, to learn, for example in the mountains I learned to ski, something I had never done before. And this is the first time in Italy, the place is beautiful so I am very happy. And we take advantage of it all the time to be with our colleagues, to be together, and to visit, to discover the places around."

    

What advice would you give to a future G.O?

Felicia

"The Club gives you the opportunity to train, and to teach you, even if you don't know how to how to do something, and also evolve really fast at Club Med and that's really good."

    

Pauline

"It is a very nice school. It is really a school, because we are trained. We can grow in our profession, in other fields. You learn to work with a lot of different different personalities. It takes us out of our comfort zone a little bit but it is really for me the best school of life."

       

A resort where you dream of working at?

Felicia

"That would be Kani in the Maldives, I've always loved it, it's a dream."

   

Pauline

"For me it would be Punta Cana or Cancùn because already speak Spanish and to discover the Latino culture."

  

What do you want to do in the future?

Pauline

"I would love to stay in the Exclusive Collection and then evolve as a Exclusive Collection Space Manager. And this is the opportunity we have with Club Med is to evolve quickly while being trained correctly. And before I would never have said that, before I wanted to stay in my comfort, to be at the bar, without responsibilities, but when we see our managers you can see that they continue to train every day, and that's what I'd like to be, a Exclusive Collection Space Manager"

       

Felicia

"For me it's already a big step to have gone from G.E to G.O so it's already not bad for me. And then why not try to evolve in the restaurant sector, in the Gourmet Lounge: Assistant, after Manager."
